Karan Johar’s Queasiest Season

Is it just me or has “Koffee with Karan” been extra queasy this year?

Some of the guests have been fun but most have been a little too extra, I assume to try and sell their movie more or be more likable to the public. Their manipulative ways seem to make sense but I have been thoroughly disturbed by both Johar and his guests on this season. Which saddens me terribly because I really do love Johar.

Some examples, you ask?

Well, how about Johar constantly putting down Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan by asking them what it feels like to be the younger brothers of the GREAT Salman Khan?

First of all, Arbaaz is the producer for many of Salman’s biggest films, so no he is NOT JUST the younger brother of Salman. These guys have their own careers and they kindly took those questions without offense and explained how their eldest brother never made them feel like they were beneath him.

Excuse me, that is how siblings and humans SHOULD act, just because you are famous doesn’t give you the right to put someone else down. Salman was “being human” as his brand says, not doing some great favor by treating his siblings as equals.

When Jacqueline Fernandez and Sidharth Malhotra came on the show they were on some next level flirtations. If I didn’t watch Fernandez on Jhalak Dikhlajaa, or follow her SnapChat I would have thought she was a ditzy slut, but she just naturally giggles and smiles a lot so I know she’s not being extra for the show, that’s just her. Malhotra, on the other hand, surprised me with his flirting, he’s usually more sober and quiet.

The two of them together were trying so hard to show off their “chemistry” and Johar was trying to confirm that they were a couple it was so obviously a publicity stunt to promote their upcoming film.

In the episode with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor, I thought Kapoor was very sweet and classy but Khan was just annoying AF. So fake and extra, I just can’t.

Me watching this episode:

kareena kapoor khan, i would just kill myself

There have been certain films where I was impressed with Khan’s work but overall, I was never crazy about her acting skills. I never understood why people were falling all over her at one point in her career, it was definitely just her size-zero figure.

Watching the episode I sat there wondering who..like why? She talks about herself like she’s freaking Rekha or Jaya Bachchan with her legendary career and soooooo many years of work and what a veteran she is compared to Sonam Kapoor…

I’m pretty sure 1/4th of her popularity is because of her acting skills, 1/4th for her last name, 1/4th for her hot bod and 1/4th for, again, her last name because the “Khan” name holds weight and I think Saif Ali Khan is a great guy with real talent.

I strongly believe that, like Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan is very underrated as an actor—they’re both brilliantly talented people who are intelligent and men of substance.

The Aamir Khan episode was cute with the new newbies he arrived with for his film “Dangal.” They all did well but Aamir is usually more reserved, I felt like he was being more open on purpose so that he isn’t criticized for holding back and he can give his film the most promotion. Aamir is a brilliant guy and he’s such a perfectionist he most definitely came to the show with his game plan so this was a calculated effort for sure. Not as queasy as some of the others but still more than what we expect of him.

The episode of Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh was so God Damn QUEASY. Singh is ridiculously extra no matter where he is but on “Koffee with Karan” he took that shit to new heights.

Literally watched this episode like….

oh fartsJohar definitely thought that this would make for great TV having two talented young actors, the ex-boyfriend and current boyfriend of the same actress. Both actors were trying too hard to prove that they were friendly, which I’m sure they are but there was no need for the excessively fake love. Singh looked like he had just sniffed some drugs before hitting the stage, this guy was high as fuck.

Shahid Kapoor and Mira Kapoor were also quite queasy with their arranged marriage advertisement—we get it, it worked for you and you’re happy. Johar kept pushing Shahid about his ex-girlfriends which were unnecessary, dude is WIFE IS RIGHT THERE.

That’s just disrespectful.

The Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma’s episode was just OKAY, nothing too queasy but nothing great. Shah Rukh Khan was trying a bit hard to be funny but I think he just wanted to stay young and hip to keep up with Alia Bhatt. Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur sucked at the rapid fire, but their friendship seemed real and the game where they had to act scenes determined by Johar was pretty cool. Again, these episodes weren’t too exciting and funny but not terrible either. They weren’t at a level that made me want to rush to the bathroom and throw up my dinner.

The BEST episodes, according to me, were the ones that featured real-life couple Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar, and off-screen friends Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan.  Both episodes were funny, witty, revealed juicy behind the scenes information about everyone in a non-queasy way and seemed very natural.
